Artist 1: Created to Create 2018 | Craig Mathers, Actor/Teacher


Craig is a faculty member of the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA). He has taught at their summer International Workshop at the University of Connecticut and at CSU Summer Arts. He has also taught with Michael Chekhov Europe in Groznjan, Croatia and has taught acting, both contemporary and classical, at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and at NYU’s Cap 21. He is currently an Associate Professor of Performing Arts at Emerson College where he teaches Chekhov and Stanislavsky based approaches as well as Shakespeare Text. Craig studied under Stanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse and received his MFA from Yale Drama School. He also trained at Shakespeare and Company and is a designated Linklater teacher.


In 2018, Super Space is serving as a vehicle to facilitate Created to Create Project. What Created to Create 2018: This year, Super Space is continuing to speak to artists. To further clarify our intentions, we are creating three groups: ​ Artists: Interviews with artists (in no particular order) with topics relating to the creative process. ​ Masters: Interviews with artists whose life and love of their craft led them to encourage development with a level of mastery that inspires others. ​ Image Makers: Artists who facilitate visual and artistic transformation with their craft and style. ​ When Beginning 2018 Who ACTORS, ARTISTS, THEATRE MAKERS, FILM MAKERS, DESIGNERS, TEACHING ARTISTS, STUDENTS all chosen because they spend a part each day creating. Goal Introduce artists from different parts of the world - people who use different mediums and whose practice is at a different skill level. A thing they all have in common is unique sense of style and self-expression. Additionally, we aim to create online content to help us learn and grow, both in life and work. ​ Tutorials In 2018, Super Space is creating short tutorials to help actors navigate their life and work.
